Mark Ramont earned his B.A. in Theatre Arts (directing) from CSU Fullerton and an MFA (also directing) from the University of Texas at Austin.Ìý Since then, he has worked professionally as a director, artistic administrator and educator at theatres such as Circle Repertory Theatre (NYC), Ford’s Theatre (Washington, DC), the Alley Theatre (Houston), the Hangar Theatre (Ithaca, NY), Round House (Bethesda, MD), Capitol City Playhouse (Austin) and others.Ìý He has directed world premiere productions of Dalton’s Back, Walking the Dead, Mad River Rising and The Colorado Catechism, among others.Ìý As the Director of Theatre Programming at Ford’s Theatre, he was instrumental in shepherding world premiere productions of Liberty Smith, The Heavens Are Hung In Black, and Meet John Doe through the development and production process.Ìý Currently, he is involved in the development of CSUF alumnus Richard Hellesen’s commissioned play, Necessary Sacrifices, which will be produced this winter at Ford’s Theatre.Ìý Mark has taught at Rice University, Sam Houston State University and American University.Ìý He is recipient of the Princess Grace Foundation Statuette Award, as well as multiple Austin Theatre Critics’ and Austin Circle of Theatres Awards.
